Which energy resources are renewable: coal, oil, natural gas or wind?

Renewable energy resources can be described as those energy sources that are renewed naturally and at smaller time scales. We can compare all the given choices based on these criteria.

Renewable energy resources can be described as those energy sources that are renewed naturally and at smaller time scales. We can compare all the given choices based on these criteria.

Coal is a fossil fuel and is formed from the fossilization of plants. It takes millions of years to form. Because of this large time scale, coal is listed as a non-renewable energy resource, since it will not be renewed in our lifetime or few human lifetimes.

Oil, or petroleum oil, is also a fossil fuel and is formed as a result of the fossilization of animals and plants. It also takes millions of years to form and hence is not considered a renewable energy source.

Natural Gas is formed from the fossilization of plants and animals. Similar to coal and petroleum oil, it also takes a very long time to form and hence is listed as a non-renewable source of energy.

Wind is a natural resource and is replenished constantly. Thus it is one of the renewable energy resources. In fact, wind is among the chief renewable energy resources (the other being solar energy) being implemented currently to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels.

Hope this helps.
